Celebrating 125 Years of Masorti Zionism – Zurich, August 2022

In August 2022, the WZO organized a two-day conference celebrating the 125th anniversary of the first World Zionist Congress in Basel in 1897. 

We organized a Shabbaton for the MERCAZ/Masorti participants in the Basel events. The Shabbaton was aimed to discuss Masorti/Conservative Zionism and the place of Israel in our Jewish Identity. 

During the Shabbaton, we enjoyed a walking tour of old Zurich, focusing on its Jewish and Zionist history. Upon returning to the hotel, we discussed MERCAZ’s importance for the Masorti/Conservative movement around the world, MERCAZ’s role in the National Institutions and ideological issues.
