Standing Strong for Pluralism: 20,000+ Voices Demand Religious Freedom at the Kotel

Over the past few weeks, our global Jewish movement demonstrated what true solidarity looks like. When divisive legislation threatened to impose severe criminal penalties for egalitarian prayer at the Egalitarian Kotel, marginalizing millions of Masorti and Reform Jews worldwide, MERCAZ Olami mobilized.

Together with our partners, we launched an urgent global petition demanding that Israeli leadership reject this extreme bill and uphold Israel’s founding vision as a welcoming home for every Jew. The response was undeniable: over 20,000 community members, leaders, and allies signed their names to protect egalitarian prayer and religious freedom at our holiest site.

This massive groundswell sent a direct message to decision-makers in Jerusalem: global Jewry will not be silenced or pushed away. While the fight for pluralism and democracy continues, this achievement proves the immense power of our collective voice. MERCAZ Olami remains on the frontlines in Knesset corridors and international forums to ensure that the Kotel—and Israel itself—remains open, equal, and united for all.
